The English Farm
At The English Farm we raise animals a little bit different. They all have names and are handled daily. Both the cattle and pigs have beautiful fields to graze 24-7 and are considered “pastured”. May of you may have heard the term grass finished but not here. our animals are taken the best possible care of and so at times receive supplemental pellets to provide a little extra protein for their growth and overall health. This is combination of two mindsets allows us to do they best of both worlds and our process that has pastured animals but also utilizes grains when needed provides a marbling and flavor profile you can not get on grass alone. We take a lot of our inspiration from the ranchers of Japan and how they raise Wagyu. our cattle and pigs always receive free choice minerals and during the winter months they receive free choice hay! We love to support our local farms and business so we buy all local hay and feed for our animals. They love peanut season because it means lots of freshly baled peanut hay which is enjoyed by not only our cattle but out pastured pigs as well
Pastures and Grazing
The quality of feed an animal eats determine many thing such as yield, flavor profile, marbling, fat quality and even leads to healthier fats. Animals that are pastured have higher omega 3 levels in their fats as well as antioxidants and essential vitamins. We carefully plants our pastures with a seed mix that includes grasses, as well as legumes. Not only do these legumes provide nutrients to the animals but are also highly palatable to them. In short, that means the animals love they way they taste. And we believe a happy healthy animal leads to the happiest healthiest families. These animals are what provides our families with meals year around and we want to share that with you. Another benefit of our multiple species of crops we plant into our pastures is that the legumes are also beneficial to the soil. And healthier soils crow richer plants more nutrient dense for our livestock. We boast on impressive microecosystem in our pasture full of earthworms and other beneficial insects that break down matter into earthworm castings to fertilize the soil as well as aeration the field.
Beef & Pork
There are so many different swine breeds out there, but we were looking for something special. Berkshire is an old English Heritage breed of pigs. In the 19th century, they were introduced into Japan and the United States. They are regarded as the best-tasting and highest-quality pork available. Today they are known in tandem with Wagyu beef. We wanted to raise these pigs with the best possible care. Our pigs are pasture-raised on large pastures grazing alongside cattle. They love to forage acorns underneath our oaks and are often caught snoozing under their shade. They run and play with our beloved livestock guardian dog and live happy healthy lives.
When it comes to our beef hold the same high standard. We have a variety of breeds of cows that we found do great in our system but they are all bred with wagyu bulls. We have steers sired by some of the top wagyu bulls in the world and the results show. Our wagyu crossed steers have well marbled and umami flavor profile that is specific to our method of raising these animals. Buying beef from a local producer that raised beef in a more natural way is far superior to the mass produced meat you get at a grocery store. And mass production is something we do not want to do. We like to be able to really focus in on each momma and baby as well as our steers so we do not always have a large supply available but are happy to share what we have when available with your family.
We offer beef by the side and by the box.

Farm Products
We always have something going on here at the farm which leads to other products we make and use that we can share with you. We have artisan vinegars and a variety of other products. My wife has her own Product line called “Nurture”. Its a fitting name as she is a mother of four with a still growing family and she always crafts products for her family. She has chap sticks, balms, salves, soaps, elderberry syrup kits and more. Her products are all made with care and a tender touch and used by our family. They are all good for “what ales ya”
